I found my internal fire reignited with the reading of The Inner Level by by Kate Pickett and Richard G. Wilkinson. ‘Till the day I die, I will recommend this book to everyone I meet - because knowledge is the greatest gift you can give another.

Having a 60-year old supervisor that vacationed to Burning Man every year and wind surfed on the tops of planes taught me that life wasn’t meant to slow down at 28. It was time for a change. So after moving back to Houston, I needed to set a routine to get out of the house (and unknowingly), I found a sense of community.

I started attending boot camp trainings and cardio lifting at Pro-Fit Houston with professional trainer, @jermichealselders_20. Waking up everyday at 6 am with Jermicheal, “Praise Da Beard” clothing brand owner, to run up hills reminded me that there is thrill to be found in discipline and pushing your body to new limits. Especially when you are regurgitating in the bushes. Each workout forced me to look inwards at my mentality to finish.

By a chance meeting, with @kc_contro, I found myself intrigued by a community focused on holistic living. Lance, an experimentally minded being behind the movement at The Place, led @stickmobilty courses and invited others to join in or lead their own classes for the betterment of the house. To be honest, it was refreshing to find this free-thinking group within the heart of Houston; driving me to push the boundaries of my own physical and mental state.

Becoming involved in more activities hosted at The Place - I had the great pleasure of meeting @rajeshmeditation, the self-titled, rapping yogi. Raj reminded me how deeply important it is to align the mind-body connection through intentional breathing and movement. Yoga sessions end with a vegan dish, created by the yogi himself; the great satisfaction of feeding others tasted within the meal.

Which leads me to the last realization of this journey. I have always associated community with feeding; whether we are talking about lunch with a coworker or massive pans of enchiladas shared with friends and family during the holiday. The choice of incorporating more superfoods into my diet has become a priority as I have been learning to treat my mental and physical self with a higher level of respect.

I have recently partnered with @revivesuperfoods to provide my readers with 55% off a purchase by using code, Cheyanadoll55. If you are considering a lifestyle change to enhance your wellbeing, consider waking up with a superfood-rich, Revive smoothie.
